Our First graders are really starting to get our routines and expectations down!  We have continued to practice “whole body listening” and talk about why it is so important.  We also discussed our hopes and dreams, or personal goals, for our learning this year.  It was wonderful to hear what each student chose!

We also did many other activities including:

  • Drew monarch butterflies

  • Completed a project to showcase our Hopes and Dreams for this year in first grade

  • Finished learning about all four stages of the Monarch butterfly’s life cycle and made a beautiful model to show them all

  • Went to the Book Fair (thank you to all who donated money or books to our classrooms!!!  It is so appreciated!!)

  • Created a class Big Book called “All About Me” which features… US!! It involved drawing a self-portrait and writing some special information about ourselves.

  • Continued working on counting and addition in math, and also started working on some story problems

  • Read some fantastic books including Leo the Lightning Bug, Incredible Me!, I Like  Myself, The Curious Garden, Rocket’s ABCs

  • Practiced and reviewed letters and sounds by doing whole body movements to go with each one

  • Had a school-wide celebration: Stuffy Day!
